Self-tapping, cannulated compression screw with head thread
The DuoThread™ Scarf N is a cannulated, self-drilling, self-tapping compression screw available with either full or partial thread, and with an additional head thread. Compression is established through unequal thread pitches at the screw head and shaft. The screw is used to secure and stabilise bones or bone fragments following osteotomies (Akin, scarf, chevron, or closing wedge) and arthrodeses (interphalangeal or MTP joint). Since its cylindrical head does not exert any further transverse forces on the corticalis during screw insertion, it is particularly gentle in this regard.
Different thread pitches on screw head and shaft create compression
