The MetaFix™ OpenWedge plate is available in seven different sizes and can be used for hallux valgus correction using either an opening base wedge osteotomy or a crescentic base osteotomy with plate size 0. The fixed-angle design allows stable correction in the post-operative phase, which can allow patients to resume putting weight on the foot more quickly. This is also associated with earlier initiation of functional therapy, which can yield an improved range of motion.

Fixed-angle screw connection using MetaFix™ LS Screws, Ø 3.0 mm and Ø 3.5 mm
Two K-wire holes allow temporary fixation of the plate to the bone
Optimised wedge to allow maximum bone knitting: the bars run transverse to the osteotomy gap so that bone growth can create a stable connection between the two separated fragments. These bars are wedge-shaped to facilitate metal removal.
